firing up
BY NICK LICATA
ere we are, right in the middle of Summer and the show season is firing on all cylinders. For us in SoCal, a stretch of unseasonably warm weather back in March and April ensured all the local coffee cruises went on as scheduled without a hitch.
One standout was the Hotrods N’ Heroes outdoor car show March 29th in Huntington Beach, just steps from the sand. This event was put on by the QruisinPCH crew—the same gang behind the Quarantine Cruise that rolls out every third Sunday of the month in Costa Mesa, so expectations were already high.
But Hotrods N’ Heroes was more than just a car show. The event shined a spotlight on the 42 Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting law enforcement officers, their families, and the Southern California community through financial assistance, youth programs, and outreach initiatives. By partnering with local advocates and organizations, the foundation continues to raise awareness and provide meaningful support for those who serve and protect.
When you combine a gathering of hot rods, muscle cars, and classics with a cause that gives back to the community, it elevates the experience. It’s no longer just about the cars. It becomes something more. Something that reflects the best part of our culture.
And maybe just as important, it helps bring the next generation into the fold.
So, to the promoters, organizers, and those behind the scenes of these events, we see you. We see you putting in the time, effort, and passion, and we appreciate you!
Next time you are hanging out at your local cruise, take a moment to thank the people who make it happen. They are the first ones there and the last to leave, making sure the facility is as clean as it was before we got there, so we are welcomed back.
Most aren’t doing it for profit—they do it for the love of the culture. These are the people keeping hot rodding’s engine idling strong, preserving its pulse for the next wave. They are the unsung heroes of hot rodding.
So, let’s give props to all the morning coffee cruise and local show organizers. Without them, we have no place to go.
