I

t’s days like these that make you wonder what life’s gonna throw your way next, and 2020 was solid proof. This past year I’ve been hit by more surprises than any other time in my life—no doubt most of you are going through similar issues. COVID-19? Didn’t have that one on my Bingo card. Nor did I have jumping back into the seat as a magazine editor—this time taking on this here brand-new Chevy-based magazine—totally unexpected but absolutely welcomed.

If you’ve been around the Chevy muscle car hobby and are past readers of Camaro Performers or Chevy High Performance magazines, you’ll most likely recognize my name as being associated with those titles. If you are new to the Chevy magazine world, here’s a quick backstory and some insight on how I got here.

I started out with a company called Primedia about 20 or so years ago working as an online editor for a few of their magazine websites. A couple years of that, and more than a few company name changes, led me to an editorial position at Camaro Performers magazine. From there I took over the editor’s seat at Chevy High Performance magazine.

My automotive background consists mostly in driving, as I’ve attended numerous performance driving schools, was the company test driver for Hot Rod, Popular Hot Rodding, Street Rodder, Rod & Custom, and the magazines I worked on. I even have a few autocross wins under my belt and a Top Ten finish at one of the early Holley LS Fests driving the Camaro Performers magazine fourth-gen Camaro project.

Fast-forward to December 2019 when the corporate brass of the publishing company Chevy High Performance magazine was under decided to kill 19 magazines in one day. A lot of great automotive magazines went away—so did many talented staffers. That day kinda sucked.

Thankfully, a few wise folks from the old publishing company recognized there is still a large audience wanting automotive magazines—in print and digital format—and put together a strong, veteran editorial crew to form In The Garage Media. In June 2020 ITGM began publishing two bimonthly magazines: Modern Rodding and Classic Truck Performance. With those two magazines garnering a rapidly growing subscription base, a Chevy magazine was next on the roster. I knew starting a magazine from the ground up would be a challenge, but the idea of working with an experienced and talented team of passionate car and truck enthusiasts made the decision to get involved an easy one.

So, to you former readers of CP and CHP, it’s great to see you again. For those not familiar, strap in and hold on. As the name implies, All Chevy Performance will feature some of the baddest Chevys on the planet. Everything from Pro Touring, Pro Street, gassers, drag cars, street freaks, and everything in between will be covered. Because stock is boring, our technical articles will illustrate how to up the performance of your Chevy’s engine and suspension. We’ll also dip into quite a bit of bodywork and paint articles for those looking for tips in that area.

Cruising through this issue, you may notice some familiar names in the article bylines, as I’m excited to have the industry’s best automotive photographers and tech writers contribute to this here magazine.

Although we are just getting started, I look forward to a long relationship with you as we dive into some of the coolest, loudest, and fastest Chevys around. But this ride doesn’t stop with print and digital magazine versions, as we also provide exclusive content at www.allchevyperformance.com, and on our social media channels, Instagram (@allchevyperformance) and Facebook (All Chevy Performance).

So, with the pedal down and tires blazing, let’s get this party started. Oh, and if you feel like offering up some feedback, email me at nlicata@inthegaragemedia.com.
